Heck, even if you don't operate in the city limits, chances are your website is still going to rank in those results pages online. Local SEO is something that every business needs to be aware of.


A lot of people think local SEO is only for businesses that are located in the city or state. That's not true at all.

Another benefit of using this keyword-location combination is that people are searching for businesses like yours by name. And if they can find your business online with an easier search, then that's just one less reason for them to buy from someone else.


Write Descriptions That Include Your Location


When you create your business description, one of the best ways to use keywords is to add in the location of your business. If you're a hair salon on the corner of 10th and Main street, then tell people that.


This lets those searching for a local business know by reading your description that your business is convenient to them. They have less reasons to search elsewhere online if you already told them how close you are.


Create Local Links on Your Website


I know that it's hard to create links from the website, but if you have a business with multiple locations, then you have to do this. You want people to be able to find your website and be able to find out what other services that you offer.


For example, if I'm searching for my local hair salon, "Joe's Hair Salon", then I would like to see your website listed when I search for that name.


Create a Local Social Media Page


If you don't already have a local social media page, then you should create one. This is just another location for people to find your business and discover what kinds of products or services that you offer.

This shouldn't be your only social media presence, though, because that's really not going to help your local SEO effort too much. You really need to work on creating links from these pages back to your website if you want to see better rankings in Google.

Using the old-fashioned approach to local SEO is something that some people still use. I've read numerous articles on how to rank for these types of keywords and you're always told that these methods were effective. Well, unfortunately, they aren't anymore. But they might have been effective back in the day, but now there are much better ways of getting your website ranked in these specific situations.
