What are some of your tips for local SEO?

As a local SEO expert, I see lots of people try an implement their business across different search engines and social media platforms.  They typically start at the big corporations, such as Google and Facebook, but then wonder what's next? In this blog post I'll be sharing my top ten tips for local SEO which should help you get started in some very specific areas.

1. Blogs: Focus on finding blogs about your profession or industry which are relevant to your location. Become a guest blogger on them or connect with the blogger so you can tell them about your business and get in front of their audience.

2. Reviews: If your business is local to an area with reviews on Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor or anywhere else, then start collecting reviews from customers and grow your reputation in that area.

3. Groups: Join the relevant groups for your business's industry on Facebook and LinkedIn to reach new people for free by sharing articles and content relevant to their industry.

4. Social Media: You need to be everywhere, as much as possible. Not only do you want to connect with potential customers on the big platforms like Facebook and Twitter but also join relevant groups on Pinterest, Instagram and other niche sites where your potential customers are hanging out.

5. Events: Don't just hang out online, get out into the real world and become a part of your community by attending events in your industry and meeting people who can help you down the line.

6. Blogger outreach: Bloggers write lots of great blog posts about different products and services in your industry. You need to find these bloggers and contact them directly, so they can include your business in their content for free.

7. PR: Look into creating a press release for your business if you are a local or regional level business which is newsworthy, you could also get some local media coverage which can lead to more visibility and influencers writing about the topic on their blogs.

8. Mobile-Friendly: If your website isn't mobile-friendly or even responsive, then you need to fix this asap since so many people will be viewing your website on their mobile devices from now on.
